Indians 5 Orioles 0

The Portland NAPA Indians opened their season with a well played 5-0 victory over the Orioles at Romegialli Field.  Nick Brenchak allowed no runs and 1 hit over 5 and 2/3 innings, while striking out 13 Oriole batters to earn the win.  Derek Frame, who had snared two hard hit line drives at second base, came in to record the final out.  Fine defensive plays were also made by Ryan Hurlbert at third and Julien Nicolas at second. The Indians grabbed the lead in the bottom half of the first.  Frame walked and then advanced to third on two wild pitches.  Brenchak launched a sac fly to right field to plate Frame.  The Indians added another run in the fourth.  Brenchak singled and advanced to third and then scored on a passed ball.  With two outs in the bottom of the fifth the Indians added three insurance runs.  Frame and Ryan Famiglietti singled and Brenchak smacked an inside the park home run to make the score 5-0.  Robert Pimentel also singled for the Indians.


Angels 11 White Sox 3

In the Angels first game of the year michael "boo" gaboury pitched a completed game. striking out 12 while allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and a couple of walks.On the offensive side Sean Black had 4 hits and Zach Coburn and TJ Hummel both had big hits to lead offsive charge.

Indians 5 Athletics 4

The Indians pushed their record to 2-0 with a hard fought victory over the A's on Wednesday, April 27th at Baroni Field.  Derek Frame picked up his first win of the season, allowing 2 runs on 1 hit while fanning 6 over 4 and 2/3 innings.  Ryan Famiglietti relieved Frame, and after allowing 2 runs with two outs in the bottom of the 5th, came back strong in the sixth to earn his first save.  The Indians Robert Pimentl got things going in the top of the third.  He drew a walk and eventually scored on passed ball.  With two outs Frame doubled and Famiglietti followed with a base on balls.  Nick Brenchak cleared the bases with a long home run to left center giving the Indians a 4-0 lead.  The Indians added a run in the top of the fifth.  Frame walked, advanced to second on a ground ball by Famiglietti and scored on a passed ball. The Indians defense was solid once again.  Tristan Nevins caught a complete game and made a great play on a wild pitch to cut a runner down at the plate to end the third.   Timmy Halvorsen contributed with some fine plays at second.

A's starting pitcher Greg Brock struck out nine and allowed only 4 hits in the the loss. Brock, Michael Aresco, Jonathan Colavito and Evan Augeri scored for the A's.  Jake Pelligrinelli had two hits and Aresco and Brock also had singles. Zack Williams reached base twice and pitched one strong inning of relief, and Pelligrinelli threw out a runner trying to steal second.

Phillies 2 Marlins 1

Both the Phillies and Marlins had great pitching, excellent defense and timely hitting. In the bottom of the first inning the Marlins were threatening to score when Michael Malley caught a line drive and dove to 2nd base for an unassisted double play. The Marlins came right back in the 2nd inning when Daniel Gonzales scored to give them a 1-0 lead. The Marlins starter Stone Belzo didn't give up a hit through 4 innings and was pitching a shutout going into the sixth inning. In the top of the 6th inning Timmy Dickson and Christopher Fritz led off with a couple of hits and later scored to give the Phillies a 2-1 lead. Jeremy Tust pitched in relief and struck out the side. In the bottom of the inning Stone Belzo and Matthew Erdman both singled and when Daniel Gonzales walked the bases were loaded with no outs, but Christopher Fritz was able to get the next three outs and preserve the win. Fritz had come in to pitch the 2nd inning for the injured Phillies starter and didn't give up a run in five innings while only allowing 2 hits.

Angels 7 Orioles 1

Angels win On the arm of Zach Coburn. By getting 9 K's and allowing 4 hits. Plus some help from Trinity Collins in the outfield with an amazing catch to end the game. On the offensive side for the Angels Trinty Collins comes up big with a base clearing triple and a single in the same inning.
